Minutes of November 03, 2004 Club Meeting

On November 03, 2004, the October monthly meeting was held at the clubhouse at 08:08 PM. The minutes from the previous months meeting were read and approved.

Correspondences: Mark Fair called Paul Lilja to donate 1,000 rounds of .22 cal. ammunition to be used for kid events.  Consensus is that we will accept them with that stipulation.  No other action taken.

Treasurer’s Report: The bills were read and approved with a balance of $8,957.56. Paul is still waiting on the bill for the Conservation School van rental.

Committee Reports

Archery: Targets and bases have been picked up and stored for the winter; thank-you Bill and Jim.  The Roullette Jr. Firemen asked if they could hold a 3D shoot at the club for a fundraiser.  The membership discussed a fee that could be assessed and then donated back to them, depending on circumstances, such as costs to the club or damages.  Discussion revolved around 10% or $1.00 per shooter.  No final decision was made on the fee.  Consensus was this is a good idea.  It may bring in new people/members.

Rifle: Bryan Forney donated snow fence for use at the rifle range.

Silhouette: No report.

Trap: No report.

Hunter/Trapper education: No report.

Conservation school: Received final $300.00 check.  Still waiting on the van rental bill.

Gun show: All tables were rented out Saturday and only a few were vacant on Sunday.  Over 700 people attended the fall show.  The club took in $2,126 at the gate, $56 from merchandise, $827 from the raffle, and received a $25 donation.  Some of the expenses were: $120 in advertising on WPIG, $912 to the Fire department.  Nearly $3600.00 was made from the show.  The raffle netted $201.00.  Gary Murry won the gun and Paul Lilja won the knife/light combo.

House: Bryan put the shelves up in the soda closet.  Soda needs to be replenished.  He also donated a grate for over the burn barrel to help prevent burning debris from flying away.  The new burn barrel was put out at the end of the meeting.

Events: No report.

Federation: The Federation is pushing to have Sunday woodchuck hunting permitted.  The club received (50) $20 raffle tickets to sell for the Federation's annual raffle in April and May.  There are (2) $1,000 prizes in addition to the many guns.  Larry Lukehart and Bill Sallade each took 20 tickets to sell with Paul Lilja retaining the other 10.

 

Minutes of October 01, 2004 Club Meeting

On October 01, 2004, the October monthly meeting was held at the firehouse at 08:10 PM. The minutes from the previous months meeting were read and approved with one correction to the total cost of the Potter County Anglers Assoc raffle & calendar.

Correspondences: No action taken.

Treasurer’s Report: The bills were read and approved with a balance of $6438.48. Paul is still waiting on two outstanding bills to come in. One for Conservation school van rental and one for spraying, the two bills combined are ~ $1700.00.

Archery: 6 people attended the last shoot of the year. The targets and bases were brought forward to the trail but still need to be picked up. Bill S. or Jim B. will contact Ron V. to assist with bringing in the targets.

Rifle: No report.

Silhouette: No report.

Trap: 6-9 people attended the last shoot of the year. Mort W. & Larry L. might try to hold one or two more Sunday shoots before it gets to cold.

Hunter/Trapper education: No report.

Gun show: Tables are sold out. There will be no additional parking available at the church due to a wedding.

Minutes of September 03, 2004 Club Meeting

On September 03, 2004, the September monthly meeting was held at the clubhouse at 08:03 PM. The minutes from the previous months meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report: The bills were read and approved with a balance of $4357.56. Paul stated that he is still waiting on two outstanding bills to come in. A Conservation school van rental bill for ~ $1000.00 and a spraying bill for ~ &700.00.

Archery: It’s been a pretty good season, there’s only one shoot left for the year.

Rifle: No report.

Silhouette: No report.

Trap: The average turnout has been 6-8 people. Trap is also in need of additional clay birds.

Hunter/Trapper education: No report.

Conservation school: Another successful year. Thanks Paul for all of your hard work! This was the smallest group ever, 13 kids attended. Kyle Y. was named outstanding student!

Gun show: Dealer tables are almost sold out. Bill S. has window cards and raffle tickets available. Social hall setup is at 04:30 on Wednesday September 29th. Truck bay setup is scheduled for Friday October 1st at 1:00.

House: Club house is rented for Labor Day weekend.

Events: Rich C. went over the details for next weekends Sportsman’s challenge.

Committee Reports

Archery: Archery turned in $364.00 so far for the season. Archery made $65.00 the first month alone, by leaving 18 targets out all of the time. Ron V. notified the club that his ATV is up for sale. Once sold, the club will have to look into other means of setting up the Archery course. Ron also told the club that Bryan F. has a used Ford Bronco for sale for $600.00 that the club could use for setting up the course.

Rifle: Rich C. replaced the rifle range back stops. Rich also stated that he needs to take a load of junk to the dump in the near future.

Silhouette: The last shoot had 3 shooters.

Trap: No report.

Hunter/Trapper education: No report.

Conservation school: 16 kids are signed up, 8 boys and 8 girls. Things appear to be on schedule.

Gun show: No report.

House: FYI, the meeting room TV is broken. Also, the Club house is rented for Labor Day weekend.

Events: Rich’s Olympics has been postponed until sometime in September. Rich also went over some highlights and will have more information at the next meeting.

Federation: Paul L. discussed the following 4 game resolutions:

Paul also discussed a federation bylaws change which would allow a club to be a member of any County within its region.

 

Minutes of June 4, 2004 Club Meeting

The June meeting was held in the clubhouse at 8:00pm on June 4th, 2004.  Kathy read the minutes of the previous meeting as the secretary was not present.

Committees reported as follows:

Archery - advertising has been sent to various publications.  There was considerable      discussion, and no conclusion, concerning members paying to shoot in weekly shoots.

Trap - Few shooters at first two shots.

Rifle - Marksman Challenge was discussed.

Membership - 2 new members.

Silhouette - 4 shooters.

Conservation school - 13 kids so far.

House - roof bid to be considered under new business.

Federation and gun show had nothing to report.

Treasurers report - balance of $8634.43

Old business:

Hunter Ed. will be held tomorrow and Sunday.  Club will pay for lunch.

Roof - 5 bids were received, but could not be compared because they were not based on the same specifications.  A committee was appointed to solicit new bids and select the bidder.

New business:

A motion was made and approved to donate $50 to the Fire Department.

Minutes of May 7th, 2004 Club Meeting

On May 07, 2004, the May monthly meeting was held at the clubhouse at 08:10 PM. The minutes from the previous months meeting were read and approved.

Committee Reports

Archery: The first shoot had 13 shooters. Bryan F. & Harry B. asked the membership if the Archery committee can leave 15 targets out for people to shoot at anytime. A mail slot and locked box will be placed in the shed man door for shooters to deposit there $5.00 shooting fee. The membership gave its approval after a sign is hung stating, “For members of Black Forest only”.

Rifle: Tony M. is well on his way to completing the 50 yard target.

Silhouette: The first shoot is scheduled for May 16th at 9 am.

Trap: The next Sunday trap shoot is May 30th & the first Tuesday night shoot is June 1st.

Hunter/Trapper education: Is scheduled for June 5th & 6th.

Conservation school: Applications are out and four kids are already signed up. Kid sponsorship costs $150.00.

Gun show: Best ever show attendance, more than 1 thousand people attended the gun show! Bill is still going to follow-up with the radio advertising. For the next show and all shows there after, Bill will let the vendors know not to close up early on Sunday afternoon. The clubs profit was over $5500! Thanks Bill!

House: The May 8th rental canceled.

Events: The BB gun shoot has been rescheduled for May 16th at 2 pm.

 Minutes of April 2nd, 2004 Club Meeting

On April 02, 2004, the April monthly meeting was held at the firehouse at 08:03 PM. The minutes from the previous months meeting were read, corrected then approved.

Correspondences: The club purchased a $5.00 raffle ticket from the Potter County Anglers.

Treasurer’s Report: The bills were read and approved with a balance of $7400.74 minus the van bill from Conservation school that hasn't been received yet (~$1,000).

 Membership: Jim read the current membership totals and stated the rifle range door combination will be changed in a few weeks.

Committee Reports

Archery: Last weekends PATHA shoot went well. The club made $340.00 from the shoot. PATHA would like to book the last weekend in March 2005 for next year's shoot.

The first Archery shoot is April 25th.

Rifle: Larry L. submitted a plan from Tony M. on how he is going to setup the portable target holder being placed at 50 yards between shooting lanes 2 & 3. The only change to Tony’s plan was to use homosote instead of plywood for the target holder. The membership also approved Rich C. as the new Rifle committee chairman.

Silhouette: No shoots scheduled yet.

Trap: The first Sunday Trap shoot after Archery is April 25th and the first Tuesday night shoot is June 1st.

Hunter/Trapper education: N/R

Conservation school: Paul is in the process of making some program changes and is still waiting on last years van rental bill.

Gun show: All of the tables are rented and the schedule is set. The membership discussed the lack of radio air play, so Bill is going to follow-up on the radio advertising.

House: Bryan F. & John B. built storage shelves in basement. The membership approved of Kathy & Bill’s daughter swapping our queen size bed for a set of bunk beds.

Events: This Sunday April 4th at 2 o’clock is the Easter egg hunt. The BB gun shoot is scheduled for May 8th at 2 o’clock. (Changing to a tentative date of May 16th because the club house is already in use on the 8th).

Federation: Paul L. attended the Spring Federation meeting. Topics of the meeting were:

The governor’s 800 million dollar conservation program, Alaska wilderness, Mercury levels, Jr. bear licenses decrease, additional crossbow hunting, additional concurrent deer & bear hunting areas and setting up an Ohio water basin authority.

 Committee Reports

Archery: Ron V. went over the highlights from the January Archery committee meeting. One of Ron’s action items was the issue of using personal equipment to move targets off an on the archery course. Discussion arouse on the club pursuing purchasing a used, tractor, ATV or something that could handle that job as well as other jobs around the club

Rifle: Work in progress on the sign to be erected forbidding driving to the backstop to prevent property damage (ruts). The membership also discussed the possibility of erecting a 200 yard range, but because of property constraints, it wasn’t feasible. Tony M. brought up the issue of a portable target holder being placed at 50 yards between shooting lanes 2 & 3. The membership approved the idea. It was also noted that the back stops are in need of repair. The Archery committee stated that if the material was at the clubhouse, the Archery committee would install the new backstops while they were working on the archery course on March 20th.

Hunter/Trapper education: The club will sponsor a class on June 5th & 6th. It was also noted that the PGC is not supporting “live fire” being held at the training class.

Conservation school: School dates are August 1st through August 6th. Paul L. is still waiting on the van rental bill.

Gun show: 1/3 of the tables are rented. Mailers, window cards & raffle tickets are also in. First prize is a 300 Winchester short mag and second prize is a knife/lighter combo. The membership approved Bill’s request to purchase 10 used tables from A1 rental for approximately $80 to $90 per table.

House: The building is rented on April 2nd to the Girl scouts. The building will also be used sometime during the week in April for Hunter/Trapper education counselor training.

Events: BB gun shoot still needs to be rescheduled.

Federation:

Paul L. attended the North Central meeting to discuss resolutions and other topics before attending the spring Federation meeting. A topic at the Spring Federation meeting is “should the Federal government be more stringent on controlling mercury level regulations.” The membership felt that the government should be more stringent at controlling these levels.

Committee Reports

Archery: Ron V. has accepted the position of Archery club chairman. Ron is planning on holding an archery club meeting before the next scheduled BFCA meeting to discuss issues, shoot fees and to finalize a shoot schedule.

Rifle: Work in progress on the sign to be erected forbidding driving to the backstop to prevent property damage (ruts).

Trap: Larry L. presented the following trap schedule: Every other Tuesday night at 6 pm, starting June 1st and following after every Archery shoot.

Conservation school: Still waiting on the van rental bill.

Gun show: Bill S. will be ordering mailers & window cards sometime this month. Discussion on what type of gun to raffle off and also what kind of prize to give away as second prize. If anyone has suggestions, please have them ready for the next meeting. Bill will also put together a list of possible gun choices.

House: The additions floor/ceiling insulation will be done this weekend, Sunday January 4th.

Events: BB gun shoot is scheduled for Saturday February 7th at 1 pm.
